HOTÉIS XXI

Documentary · RTP2 · 2025

A series about the spaces, the people, and the ideas that define contemporary hospitality

The possibilities offered by a hotel — whether real, imagined, fantasised, fulfilled, or left unrealised — are endless. This series explores how the hotel has adapted to the social transformations of the twenty-first century and, consequently, to contemporary society itself. Through a portrait of the hospitality industry, the series invites us to reflect on travel as both a matter of survival and a youthful dream of discovering the world, before becoming one of the largest postmodern industries and a symbol of development and social mobility. The series seeks to understand how hotel spaces are conceived, created, and maintained, and how they respond to the needs of their guests — from the pursuit of pleasure and growing awareness of waste, to the relentless search for wellbeing.
